CIRT provides members access to appropriate counselling services 24-hours, seven days per week, 365 days per year through a personalised answering service via 1300 200 123.
The Member Assistance Program provides independent counselling across a broad range of issues including but not limited to:
- – Marital and relationship issues
- – Child and family problems
- – Anxiety and depression
- – Suicide prevention
- – Grief and bereavement
- – Substance abuse
- – Problem gambling
- – Legal and financial concerns
When a member identifies the need for support, they make an initial call and a councillor provides immediate first response assistance to determine the member’s needs. Initially this support is provided by phone with further face to face interviews available depending on the member’s needs.

|MATES in Construction is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. MATES in Construction are independent of employers and unions and never work directly for a particular employer, but for the construction industry generally.|
MATES in Construction exists to help Building and Construction workers and their mates who are doing it tough at home or work.

When requesting support, MATES in Construction or Converge International may need to confirm with CIRT that you are a current member and therefore eligible for the assistance requested. No other details are provided to CIRT and will remain private and confidential.
In the event of a serious traumatic emergency the ETU, MEA, CIRT administrators and company management shall consult with the program provider to determine the best specific requirements to assist members.
It is anticipated that members who already have access to an employer funded Employee Assistance Program would utilise that arrangement in the first instance.
